Welcome to $RENO — Quests, Rewards, Leaderboard

Welcome to $RENO – the Renovation.Reviews community currency

$RENO is the reward currency for this community. The premise is simple: every helpful thing you do here – posting, reviewing, helping, reading, showing up – earns $RENO. That score puts you on the global leaderboard, unlocks tier upgrades, awards titles, and (eventually) qualifies you for real-world reward drops.

The little widget in the bottom-right corner of every page tracks your progress in real time. This page is your one-stop guide to how it works.

How $RENO is earned

Your balance is tracked automatically by the gamification engine. The headline rules:

  • Posting – replies and topics earn $RENO. Bigger thoughtful posts earn more.
  • Likes received – when others find your post helpful, you earn.
  • Likes given – spreading recognition earns you a smaller amount too.
  • Daily visits + reading – consistency is rewarded.
  • Trust Level promotions – TL2, TL3, TL4 each unlock big bonuses.
  • Leaderboard placement – Top 100 / Top 10 / Podium each unlock exclusive titles.

Open the $RENO tab in the widget to see your live balance and tier.

The tier ladder

Tier $RENO required

:white_circle: Silver 1,000
:yellow_circle: Gold 5,000
:radio_button: Platinum 25,000

Each tier upgrade triggers a confetti celebration and updates your widget ring color.

How titles are awarded (and how exploit-proof it is)

The widget catalogs many quests as in-flight progress. Stat-based titles like the ones above are always backed by a Discourse badge:

  • Discourse runs a SQL query against authoritative server tables (user_stats, gamification_scores) on a periodic schedule.
  • The moment your real stats cross the threshold, the badge is granted automatically.
  • Once granted, the title appears in your profile preferencesTitle dropdown for you to select.

Security model:

  • The widget showing “you earned the title” is informational. The actual title selector only shows titles whose backing badge has been granted by the server.
  • Manipulating browser state (devtools, localStorage edits, cookie spoofing) cannot grant a badge – the grant query reads only server-side stats.
  • Latency: Discourse’s badge processor runs periodically (typically hourly). If you just crossed a threshold, the title may take up to an hour to appear in your selector.
  • Other widget achievements (charity quests, completionist counters, streak tiers) live in localStorage as personal trophies but do not grant titles – they’re outside the verifiable surface and are kept honest by being non-economic.

Tips & tricks

  • Quality > quantity. Long, helpful, well-formatted posts attract likes. Likes received are worth more than likes given.
  • Stack milestones. A single well-rounded month of activity (post + topic + like + read + visit) cracks open multiple categories at once.
  • Run streaks. Streak quests scale fast and award some of the highest-value titles. A 100-day streak alone is worth 25,000 $RENO.
  • Read widely, not just deeply. Voyager and Reader count different things – diversity of topics opened vs. depth of reading time.
  • Trust Level matters. Hitting TL3 (Regular) and TL4 (Leader) each unlock 4-figure $RENO drops and exclusive titles.
  • Watch the leaderboard. The top 10 and top 3 awards are exponentially valuable. Even cracking Top 100 unlocks the Top Tier title.

Linking your Solana wallet (optional)

In the future, $RENO may be airdropped to wallet addresses. To get on the airdrop list, head to your profile preferences and fill in the Solana Wallet field. It’s optional – your forum score doesn’t depend on it. Linking it also auto-completes the Set Wallet onboarding quest worth 500 $RENO.
