April–May Priority List
Exterior
- Inspect roof for lifted shingles, damaged flashing, granule loss in gutters
- Clear gutters and check downspout extensions point 6ft from foundation
- Check caulking around all windows and doors — reapply where cracked
- Walk foundation perimeter looking for new cracks or soil settlement
- Check interlock/driveway for frost heave before summer heat sets it
Interior
- Replace furnace filter
- Test smoke and CO detectors (replace units older than 10 years)
- Run water through unused drains — P-traps dry out and let sewer gas in
- Test sump pump with a bucket of water
Landscaping
- Hold mulch until soil hits 10°C consistently
- Check for frost heave on interlock — may need resetting
