GTA Kitchen Renovation Budget - What $50K, $80K and $120K Actually Gets You

Did extensive research before our $78,000 kitchen renovation in Mississauga. Sharing the comparison across budget tiers based on quotes I got and conversations with people who had done projects at different price points.

The $45,000-$55,000 Kitchen (Mid-Range)

What this gets you in the GTA:

  • RTA (ready-to-assemble) or entry-level semi-custom cabinets (Ikea SEKTION, Ikea Pax, GTA cabinet shops in this range)
  • Standard countertops: quartz up to $80-100/sq ft installed
  • Standard subway tile or entry-level large format backsplash
  • Mid-range appliances ($3,000-$4,500 for suite - fridge, range, OTR, dishwasher)
  • Basic lighting (recessed + one pendant)
  • Does NOT include structural changes

The $70,000-$90,000 Kitchen (Upper-Mid)

What this gets you:

  • Semi-custom or quality stock cabinets (Aristokraft, Cabico, GTA millwork shops)
  • Better quartz ($100-$150/sq ft) or natural stone
  • More complex backsplash, waterfall island
  • Better appliance suite ($6,000-$10,000 - Bosch, KitchenAid level)
  • Under-cabinet lighting, better island pendants
  • May include one structural element (opening a wall, relocating sink)

The $110,000-$150,000 Kitchen (High-End)

  • Custom or semi-custom cabinetry from a quality millwork shop
  • Premium countertops ($150-$250/sq ft) or exotic stone
  • Full structural changes if desired
  • High-end appliances ($12,000-$20,000 - Wolf, Miele, Sub-Zero possible on the lower end)
  • Complete lighting design
  • Butler’s pantry or servery additions

Our Project

$78,000 for a 140 sq ft kitchen: semi-custom Cabico painted maple, 2cm Silestone Calacatta countertops, waterfall island, full-height tile backsplash, Bosch appliance suite, pot lights + pendants. Removed a half-wall to open to dining room (load-bearing beam: $14,000 of the budget). Very happy with the result.
