Everyone says the stretch before the wet season is the smart window for finishing a basement, and I’m starting to see why. If there’s any moisture problem hiding behind those walls, I’d rather find it while things are still open than after the flooring and drywall are in. Plus once the cold sets in and the house is shut up all day, that unfinished space is going to stare at me every morning. I also figure materials have a better chance to dry and cure properly before the damp months arrive, though that might just be something people repeat. Is that real or wishful thinking, and would you push to get it done before winter or just wait?
