Where is the best place to put outdoor security cameras?

Hey everyone, I just bought a set of wireless outdoor security cameras for the house, but I’m trying to figure out the best spots to mount them so they actually do their job. I don’t want to just guess and end up with blind spots.

Obviously the front door and back door are the main areas, but what about height? If I put them too high up near the roof line, I feel like I’ll just get the tops of people’s heads and won’t be able to see faces. But if I put them too low, someone could just reach up and smack the camera or cover it.

Also, do you guys point them to look at your driveway or do you focus more on the side walkways? Any tips on finding the right angles or dealing with sun glare during the day would be really helpful. Thanks

The best spots are usually the main entry points and areas with the least visibility front door, driveway, backyard access, and blind corners around the house. A lot of people only realize later that camera placement matters more than just having cameras everywhere.

The best place to put outdoor cameras are entrances and also in the garage

The best place to pick for security cameras side of the entrance door so it won’t get noticed

Aim for 8 to 10 feet high out of reach, but low enough for faces. Cover the driveway and side paths, and angle them down slightly to completely crush sun glare.
