What I Learned from My Resort Style Bath Remodel

When I finally took a sledgehammer to my cramped, closed-off master bathroom, I had one goal absolute luxury. Like everyone else scrolling through design blogs, I wanted a massive, resort-style wet room with a freestanding tub tucked inside a glass shower enclosure.

Two months into living with it, my perspective completely shifted. While the aesthetic was undeniably stunning, heating that massive cavern of glass took forever, and scraping water off six-foot panes became a grueling daily chore.

This year’s real shift in luxury renovation isn’t about dramatic scale it’s about practical indulgence. In my next project, I’m prioritizing zoned heating, smart ventilation, and high-end fixtures over sheer square footage. If you are updating a bath, don’t just design for the photo. Invest in the hidden infrastructure that makes a space genuinely comfortable to use every single morning.

A resort style bath sounds nice, but the real lesson is that it’s not just about looks how it functions day to day matters even more.

Heating that large space took forever, and cleaning all that glass became a daily chore.

This is a great article man

Well done

A valuable insight. True luxury is defined more by comfort and functionality than by visual impact alone.
