The weekend DIY flooring that later took 3 months to fix properly

I really thought flooring project would be simple and so I decided to do the one for my home myself.

The plan was just to spend one weekend replacing the old floor and enjoy the new look after. I watched a few videos online, bought the materials, and convinced myself it was one of those easy DIY jobs people always talk about.

The first day went well, but after some time, small problems started showing up. Some pieces were not lining up properly, certain areas felt uneven, and parts of the floor started making slight sounds when stepped on.

I was ignoring it because I felt it would settle naturally, but it didn’t.

Instead, the mistakes became more noticeable over time. Some sections had to be removed and redone completely. Then more adjustments followed after that.

What was supposed to be a quick weekend upgrade slowly turned into months of fixing small issues one after the other.

The frustrating part is that the floor looked fine from far away, but living with it is frustrating and made every little mistake obvious.

That experience honestly taught me that flooring is one of those jobs that looks easy online but becomes much harder once precision and leveling are involved.

Good tips thanks for the update

You’re welcome man, thanks for reading

Weekend DIY flooring always sounds quick at first, but it’s usually the kind of job where small mistakes don’t show up until everything is already installed. Then fixing them takes way more time than the original plan.
