Co-owners Kelly Fort and Matt Dynek launched The Fort Construction in 2018, after years in the Las Cruces construction trades. The company builds custom homes across New Mexico, from Las Cruces north to Farmington, working in three main architectural styles: Traditional Tuscan, New Mexico Contemporary, and Texas Hill Country. Most projects run around eight months from groundbreak to handover.
The slogan is “Don’t build a house, build a Fort” — which captures the approach fairly well. Clients get a four-step process: site selection, design and floor plan finalization, pricing, and construction. The company has been recognized for innovation in energy-efficient building.
