That One Cheap Tool I Bought That Ended Up Saving Me a Lot

I always used to think you need expensive tools to get anything meaningful done at home, but one small purchase changed my mind.

I bought this basic hand drill mainly because I didn’t want to keep calling someone to fix small things. At first, I barely used it. Then one day, my curtain rod got loose.

Normally, I would have ignored it or waited until it became worse, but I decided to try fixing it myself. Took me longer than expected because I was figuring things out slowly, but it worked.

Since then, I’ve used that same drill for a lot of random things tightening loose hinges, fixing a shelf, even adjusting a small cabinet.

It’s not perfect. Sometimes it struggles, especially on harder walls, but it gets the job done most times.

What surprised me is not even the tool itself, but how it changed my mindset. I now try to fix things first before thinking of calling someone. Of course, I still won’t touch anything electrical or risky, but for basic stuff, it’s been helpful.

I feel like a lot of people avoid DIY just because they think they need too much to start. But honestly, even one simple tool can go a long way.

What’s that one tool you bought that turned out way more useful than you expected?

I bought a scissors and it had been very useful

Funny how sometimes the cheapest tool ends up being the one you use the most. A simple tool that actually works reliably usually saves more stress than expensive gadgets people barely touch.
