Jimmy and Elliot Sanders started hauling with one dump truck in the mid-1960s. By the early 1970s they had acquired their first asphalt plant in North Charleston. Sanders Brothers Construction, incorporated in 1964, now operates two hot-mix plants — one in North Charleston, one in Summerville — each capable of producing more than 400 tons of asphalt per hour.
This isn’t a residential remodeler. It’s one of the larger civil infrastructure contractors in the South Carolina Lowcountry, with around 325 employees across paving crews, underground utility teams, and plant operations.
