I finally got tired of seeing cables hanging all over my living room wall, so I decided to build a modern TV feature wall with wood slat panels. At first, I thought it would be a quick weekend upgrade, but it turned into one of those projects where every small step mattered.
The hardest part was finding the wall studs accurately before mounting the TV bracket. I checked the measurements multiple times because I definitely didn’t want the TV crashing down later. I also learned that hiding cables inside a wall takes more planning than most people expect. Using proper cable routing kits made the setup look much cleaner and safer.
Another challenge was getting the wood slat panels to sit evenly on an older wall that wasn’t perfectly straight. I had to make small adjustments as I worked, but the final result was worth the extra patience.
One thing I’d recommend is planning ahead for future upgrades. I left extra space behind the panels so adding new cables later will be much easier.
Now the whole entertainment area feels cleaner, more modern, and way more relaxing to sit around in.
Hiding cables definitely takes more effort than it looks. Using them in those in-wall cable kits and it made things cleaner, but measuring the entry and exit points took more time than expected.
That sounds like a really successful upgrade. TV feature walls always look clean and simple in photos, but getting the mounting, cable management, and panel alignment right takes a lot more precision than people expect. Planning for future cable access was a smart move too.
