Choosing a tile is not to be based on how it will look like on the floor on the first day. It should also be based on how the space feels after months of real use.
Matte tiles have a soft, non-shiny surface. After some time, they usually hide scratches, dust, and water marks better. This makes them easier to live with in busy areas. They also give more grip, so they feel safer, especially in bathrooms or places that get wet often. The downside is that they can look a bit dull compared to glossy tiles.
Glossy tiles look bright and clean when newly installed. They reflect light and can make a room feel bigger and more polished. But after months of use, marks, water spots, and stains can become more visible on the shiny surface. They may also become slippery when wet, which is something to consider in bathrooms.
Both types still work well, but their long-term behavior is different.
Matte tiles are more practical for everyday use, while glossy tiles are more about appearance and brightness. The better choice depends on how the space is used daily.
