I didn’t expect this to be such a big issue when I first picked glossy tiles, but now I honestly regret it a bit. At the time, it looked clean and kind of luxury in the showroom. Even after installation, the first few days felt like I made the right choice, but living with it daily is a different story.
Every single footprint shows. If someone walks in with even slightly dusty slippers, you’ll see it immediately. And don’t even talk about water drops it turns into visible marks that make the whole place look unclean even when it’s not.
Another thing is how slippery it can get. One evening I almost slipped just because of a little water near the door. That one scared me.
Now I’m constantly cleaning. Like, not deep cleaning just trying to maintain that presentable look. It’s honestly tiring. Looking back, I feel like matte tiles would have made more sense for actual living, not just appearance. Especially in a space that gets used a lot.
Maybe glossy works better in low-traffic areas or for people who don’t mind frequent cleaning. But for a normal everyday home, I’m not fully convinced anymore.
Has anyone else experienced this? Or is there some trick to managing it better that I don’t know yet?
