How a Simple Caulking Job Stopped My Leaky Window

Last summer, I noticed a steady drip along the edge of my living room window every time it rained. At first, I thought I’d have to call a contractor and pay a small fortune, but after taking a closer look, I realized it was just the old caulking that had cracked and worn away over the years.

I picked up a tube of exterior-grade caulk for about $12, grabbed a caulking gun, and spent an afternoon removing the old material and sealing the gaps. It wasn’t glamorous work scraping off the old caulk took patience but it was simple enough that anyone with basic DIY skills could do it.

The next rain proved the fix worked perfectly. No more drips, no more water stains, and no expensive repair bill. Sometimes the simplest home improvements make the biggest difference. A little attention, the right materials, and a bit of effort turned a persistent problem into a quick, affordable solution.

After that experience, I realized that many home maintenance issues can be handled without calling in professionals. A small investment of time and money can save hundreds sometimes thousands in the long run.
