Henry Carlson Construction has been operating continuously since 1919. Henry Carlson Sr. emigrated from Sweden in 1902, worked as a stonemason and laborer, and co-founded Carlson-Snitkey Construction Company in 1919. Henry Jr. took over after his father’s death in 1961, and Henry “Chip” Carlson III joined in the late 1970s after earning a Construction Management degree, becoming the third generation to run the firm. HCC now has offices in both Sioux Falls and Aberdeen, SD, and has been in continuous operation for over 100 years — an unusual distinction in any regional construction market.
