Free AR measuring tool: get square footage from your phone browser, no app install

We just shipped a free measuring tool for everyone here: Free AR Measuring Tool β€” Measure Square Footage With Your Phone | LF Builders

Most measuring apps want an install, an account, or a subscription before they tell you how big your floor is. This one runs in your phone browser and gives you total square footage and perimeter in about a minute.

How it works

  1. Open the link and tap Start Measuring
  2. On AR-capable phones (most recent Androids in Chrome) it locks onto your floor - tap each corner of the area and tap Done
  3. On iPhones and desktops it uses your camera or an uploaded photo: tap two ends of anything with a known length (tape measure, door, 2x4) to set the scale, then tap your corners

You get area in sq ft and mΒ², perimeter, per-edge lengths, undo and drag-to-adjust. When you finish there is a Post to the forum button that drafts a topic here with your numbers filled in, so you can ask what a project that size should cost.

What it’s good for

Flooring, interlock and flagstone patios, decks, fences, driveways, lawns, paint areas - anywhere you want a real number before talking to a contractor. Knowing your square footage before you collect quotes keeps estimates honest and lets you compare bids properly. For final material orders and permits, confirm with a tape measure.

It’s completely free, no sign-up, and works on any phone with a camera. Comments on the tool page feed back into this forum too.

Try it on your next project and post your measurements - curious how accurate the AR mode is across different phones, so device reports are welcome.
