I’ve been noticing something lately and I’m not sure if it’s just me but POP ceilings are starting to feel a bit too much.
Don’t get me wrong, I used to love them. When done well, they look really nice, especially at night. But now it feels like almost every house is doing the same thing multiple layers, hidden lights, shapes everywhere. At some point it stops feeling special.
I recently visited a place with just a plain, smooth ceiling and simple lighting, and honestly… it felt calmer. Less distracting. The room just felt easier to be in.
Meanwhile, some of these heavy designs almost feel like they’re competing for attention with everything else in the room.
Also, I keep wondering about maintenance. If anything spoils inside those designs, isn’t it more stressful to fix?
Maybe I’m just getting tired of seeing the same style everywhere. Or maybe simpler designs are just growing on me.
I’m actually curious if you were building or renovating now, would you still go for a full POP design, or keep it minimal?
