Tried reupholstering my living room chairs this weekend.Never play

I decided to save some money and rewrap my worn out living room chairs myself because the original fabric was completely shredded from the cats. It looked so easy on social media just rip the old fabric off, stretch some new material over the cushion, and staple it down. Wow, I was completely wrong. It turns out is a brutal mix of heavy finger pain and endless math.

Getting the old fabric off took hours. Those factory staples are practically glued into the wood framing, and my hands are completely covered in blisters from fighting with a flathead screwdriver and pliers just to clear the seat bases. By the time I actually got down to the bare foam, the floor looked like a bomb went off in a textile factory.

The real nightmare started when I tried stretching the new heavy duty fabric. If you pull one side even a millimeter too tight, the entire pattern looks warped and crooked across the cushion. I ended up mismeasuring the corner folds on the first chair, cutting the fabric way too short, and completely ruining a three-yard piece of material. I had to sit there, take a deep breath, and start the whole layout over again from scratch.

My staple gun also jammed about fifty times, which didn’t help my temper at all.

If you are thinking about rewrapping your own furniture to refresh a room, buy at least double the fabric you think you need for mistakes. Get a proper staple remover tool so you don’t destroy your fingers, and honestly, don’t rush the corners. It is an incredibly tedious grind, but finally screwing the seats back onto the frames and seeing a clean, cat scratch free living room makes the hand cramps worth it.

Reupholstering chairs really looks simple until the fabric starts stretching unevenly and nothing lines up the way you expected.

Reupholstering chairs is a lot, I’m sure I would make a mistake from choosing the fabric, which is why I’ll rather give a professional

Furniture reupholstery always looks easier online than it actually is. The corners and fabric tension are usually the hardest parts, but the final result is always satisfying once everything comes together.

For me I prefer wooden Morden chair but I still enjoyed your article.

These kind if works looks easier seen than done I prefer calling a professional to do the job for me rather than wasting my time.

Probably I’ll try reupholstering my liv8ng room chairs sometime, really nice write up buddy

Make sure you continue with the good work…
