About to do all the door casings and baseboards in our 1990s house. Is a track saw actually worth it for trim, or will a decent circular saw with a clamped guide get me 90% there for a third of the price?
The track also doubles as a straightedge for marking. I borrowed one for a kitchen and ended up buying my own.
For trim specifically the track saw shines on long, splinter-free crosscuts and scribing to wavy walls. One-off reno? circular-saw-and-guide is fine. Lots of projects? the track saw pays for itself.
