Something I rarely see discussed enough in renovations is maintenance after the project is finished.
Some materials look amazing online or in showrooms but become difficult to maintain in everyday life. For example, glossy surfaces may show scratches faster, while certain matte paints can stain easily in high-traffic areas.
I’ve also noticed that choosing durable materials sometimes saves more money long term than always choosing the cheapest option upfront.
Good renovations should balance:
• Appearance
• Durability
• Maintenance
• Budget
A renovation may look beautiful on day one, but the real test is how it performs after months or years of everyday use.
What renovation material or design choice did you later regret or end up loving more than expected?
