I spent the whole morning trying to put a fresh coat of paint on the walls in my guest bathroom because the old color was this ugly, dark beige. It is the smallest room in the entire house, so I thought I’d be completely done in an hour max with just a small roller and a single can of paint. Instead, I spent half the day hitting my elbows against the wall and getting white streaks all over my hair.
There is literally no space to move in there. Every time I tried to bend down to paint near the baseboards, my back hit the toilet tank or my shoulder rubbed against the sink basin. Trying to tape off the edges around the shower frame was a total joke too because the walls are completely crooked, so the tape kept wrinkling up and letting the paint leak right underneath.
The worst part by far was trying to roll the ceiling while wedged into the tight gap behind the door. I ended up tipping the paint tray slightly on the stepladder, and a massive glob of wet latex paint dropped directly onto the bathroom mirror and the clean floor tiles. I had to stop everything, scramble to find some wet rags, and scrub the dried gunk off the glass before it ruined the finish.
The walls look clean now, but the room smells like a chemical factory and I have white paint splatters all over my favorite watch. I still have to go back in there to pull off the sticky painters’ tape, but honestly, the thought of stepping back inside that tiny room makes me sick. I’m just going to sit on the couch and ignore the mess for the rest of the day.
When I was much younger my room was very small but I had no choice but to keep on using it like that, the day I painted it oh my goodness I was just perceiving the scent of chemical here and there
At least once it’s done, it looks clean. But yeah, the smell and random paint stains on clothes or accessories always stick around longer than expected
Small bathrooms always seem like they should be the easiest rooms to paint until you actually start working in them. Tight spaces, awkward angles, and constant bumping into fixtures make the job way more frustrating than expected. At least the fresh paint probably makes the whole room feel much brighter and cleaner now.
Small bathrooms are honestly some of the most frustrating rooms to paint because there’s nowhere to move without bumping into something. It always sounds like a quick job until you’re stuck twisting around sinks, toilets, and crooked walls for hours. At least the hard part is done now, and fresh paint usually makes a tiny bathroom feel way cleaner and brighter afterward.
