A small crack on my kitchen wall turned into a foundation scare. I didn’t even do it myself, because I knew I wasn’t at it.
I just called someone to fix a small crack I saw on the wall and thought it would be a quick job.
At first, it looked so simple. Just a thin line on the wall, nothing serious. I assumed it was normal wear and tear and didn’t think much about it.
But once the work started, the situation changed.
The person fixing it began pointing out other signs I had not noticed before. Slight uneven parts of the wall, small gaps around corners, and some moisture marks that had been there for a while. That was when the conversation shifted to possible foundation movement.
What started as a small repair suddenly felt much bigger, even though nothing was confirmed. Just hearing those possibilities made it feel heavier than it originally was.
I think that is one thing about home repairs. A small issue can look harmless on the surface, but once someone checks properly, you realize there may be more going on underneath.
Now I understand why people say small cracks should not be ignored for too long.
