Okay so our new cabinets just got put up yesterday and i am completely losing it right now because nobody noticed this during the layout planning phase. The pantry cabinet is right next to the refrigerator cutout space. When we slid the fridge into place and tried to open the left side door it hits the crown molding and the trim on the cabinet box so the fridge door only opens to like a 80 degree angle.
This means we cant even pull the plastic veggie drawers or the meat trays out inside the fridge to clean them because the door doesn’t swing wide enough!! It just hits the wood wall.
The cabinet installers already left and said they just followed the blueprint measurements exactly so it’s not their fault but i dont know what to do now. Do we have to pull the whole fridge forward so it sticks out past the cabinets by like 4 inches? That’s going to look so stupid and ruin the whole flush look we wanted. Or can you buy special hinges for cabinet doors or fridge doors that limit the swing or change the pivot point so it doesn’t smash into the woodwork? I am so stressed out right now because the counters are supposed to be measured tomorrow and if the cabinets have to move everything is going to get delayed. If anyone has dealt with a tight clearance issue like this please tell me how you fixed it without tearing the whole wall down.
