Don't Throw Away Your Leftover Renovation Materials Donate Them Instead!

Just wanted to put a quick plug in for a charity organization that a lot of people overlook when they are cleaning out their houses or finishing up a project. We just wrapped up a major cleanout of our garage and had a ton of perfectly good leftovers three unopened boxes of flooring planks, a brand-new bathroom sink vanity that we changed our mind on, and about 20 leftover 2x4 studs.

Instead of throwing them in a dumpster or trying to sell them for cheap on Facebook marketplace, we took everything down to the local Habitat for Humanity ReStore.

For anyone who doesn’t know, these are non-profit home improvement stores that take donations of building materials, furniture, and appliances, and sell them to the public at a massive discount. All the proceeds go directly toward funding the construction of affordable housing for families in need. Plus, they give you a tax donation receipt for the value of the items you drop off. It’s a total win-win situation because it keeps good materials out of the landfill and helps out a fantastic cause. Definitely check if there’s one near you before you dump your leftovers!

ReStores are incredible for that. It’s wild how much good building material ends up in dumpsters. Dropping off leftovers there is a total no-brainer for clearing out garage clutter.
