Does Anyone Else Change Their Mind Mid-Renovation?

One thing I didn’t expect about renovation is how often I change my mind halfway through. At the beginning, everything feels clear. You’ve planned your colors, layout, maybe even furniture.

But once things start taking shape, you suddenly start seeing things differently.

Something that looked good in your head doesn’t feel right in the actual space. Or you see a new idea and start reconsidering your original plan.

I’ve changed decisions more than once mid-process, and honestly, it can be stressful.

Because on one hand, you want to stick to your plan to avoid extra cost or delay. On the other hand, you don’t want to regret something you could have adjusted earlier.

It’s like choosing between consistency and satisfaction.

I’m starting to think flexibility might actually be part of the process, not a mistake, but I don’t know if that’s the best approach either.

For those who’ve done renovations before did you stick strictly to your original plan, or did you make changes along the way?

This happens more often than people expect. Sometimes the original quote doesn’t include everything properly, and once the work starts and hidden issues or missing scope show up, the price gets adjusted.

I do change my mind mid renovation but it has to be for a strong reason

Except I have a very strong and valid reason

Renovation plans rarely survive first contact with reality. A bit of flexibility often prevents regret, even if it adds some stress.

I didn’t stick to the original plan guys even tho that’s what I wanted to do from the start, lots of changes were made along the way and its normal I guess

I had the same experience. I made a few changes during my renovation and regretted some, but others improved everything. Flexibility helps, but I learned to limit changes early on.
