Today we shall be discussing how to deal with moisture in your bathroom. Unfortunately, I experienced firsthand what a nightmare this issue could be, after having my “quick shower” turn into a peeling paint disaster. Bathroom waterproofing is something any handyman worth his salt knows about.
So let’s begin. The walls of your shower should be considered the first line of defense. Products such as RedGard (and alike) are the knights in shining armor you want. Apply the product covering even the corners, where the water usually hides itself.
Ventilation is important as well. That fan, for instance, is your best friend when dealing with humidity. I always make sure to keep mine on for at least twenty minutes after using the shower. In addition, make sure to seal your grout annually. One time I was too lazy to do so, and mold took residence in there free of charge.
