April update — 24 days out from race day ![]()
Quick check-in for everyone who’s been following Samm’s journey. The 251 km from Stratford to Tobermory happens May 11, 2026 — three and a half weeks from today. Training miles are stacking up and the community response since January has been nothing short of incredible.
If you haven’t been keeping tabs, here’s where we’re at:
A few ways to plug in between now and May 11:
To everyone who subscribed to the YouTube channel back in January — thank you. Means a lot. Samm reads every comment.
What’s the community doing for the final push? Drop ideas below — I’ll consolidate the best ones into a “how to help in the last 3 weeks” pinned update.
Community update — we’re now 23 days out from Samm’s start line. May 11, 2026, Stratford to Tobermory pier, 251 km on foot for local cancer care.
A few ways folks on the forum have been helping that don’t cost a dollar and still move the needle:
Every dollar lands in one of three places: London Health Sciences Centre Cancer Program, Stratford General’s ER, and Wellspring Stratford. Nothing to a broker, nothing to admin. Direct.
If you’re newer to the forum and want a read on how this community works while you’re here, the most commonly asked questions thread is the quickest way to get oriented. Kitchen and bath stuff, contractor vetting, permits, and yes — the charity.
Thanks to the 17 of you who’ve already posted in this thread and the community members who quietly hit share. It adds up.
This kind of response means everything — thank you all for showing up here.
@Kizzy1, @gary23w, @Cryptoboi842, @Cadet and everyone who subscribed and shared kind words: Samm sees every one of these messages and they genuinely fuel him through training.
A quick update for anyone new to the thread: Samm’s 251 km run kicks off May 11, 2026, from Stratford to Tobermory. Every dollar raised goes directly to three local organizations — London Health Sciences Cancer Program, Stratford General Emergency, and Wellspring Stratford, which supports patients and families living with cancer right now.
The GoFundMe is live: https://gofundme.com/f/2mspu-charity-run
If you’ve been meaning to donate or share the link with someone who might, this week is a good time. The run is less than a month away.
And if you have questions about the cause, the route, or how LF Builders got involved with Samm’s journey, drop them below — happy to answer.
Bringing this thread back up with three weeks to go until May 11 — Samm’s 251 KM run is almost here and I want to make sure this community knows what we are running toward.
The three beneficiaries are London Health Sciences Cancer Program, Stratford General ER, and Wellspring Stratford. These are not abstract organizations. They are the places that GTA and southwestern Ontario families actually end up when a diagnosis comes. Wellspring in particular does something most people do not realize — it provides free emotional and practical support to cancer patients and their families, no referral needed. That kind of community anchoring matters enormously.
Samm is not a professional athlete. He is a tradesperson and community builder who decided that 251 kilometres was the right number to make people pay attention. If you have been following the forum for any length of time you have seen his name on posts about real renovation problems — eavestrough drainage, waterproofing failures, contractor red flags. That is the same person doing the running.
If you want to support: gofundme.com/f/2mspu-charity-run
Every dollar goes to those three organizations. No administrative cut on our end. And if you are in the Stratford or London area on May 11, even just posting a word of encouragement here before then means something.
Thank you to everyone who has already cheered him on in this thread.
Bumping this thread because the run is close — May 11 is 18 days out.
For anyone who hasn’t followed the story: Samm Simon is running 251 KM across Ontario to raise money for the London Health Sciences Cancer Program, the Stratford General ER, and Wellspring Stratford. Three organizations, all doing direct patient care work in communities that don’t always have the same resources as larger centres.
The GoFundMe is live at gofundme.com/f/2mspu-charity-run. If you’ve been meaning to donate and haven’t gotten around to it, now’s the time — every bit moves the number.
You can follow the full story and route at sammsimon.ca.
This is our community. Support it if you can.
16 days to race day.
Samm Simon starts his 251 km run from Stratford to Tobermory on May 11, 2026 — that’s in two and a half weeks.

Every dollar goes directly to:
This community has been following Samm’s story since he announced the run. If you’ve found value in this forum — the advice, the connections, the honest contractor conversations — consider this one way to give something back. The people these funds support are going through the hardest thing they’ve ever faced.
251 km. Solo. For his wife. For the community.
Sixteen days.
Posting this as a reminder — Samm’s run is now just 16 days away.
May 11, 2026. Stratford to Tobermory. 251 km. That’s not a typo.
I’ve been following along since we first shared this here in January, and watching the GoFundMe grow has been one of the more moving things to check in on during a busy spring season. The three beneficiaries — London Health Sciences Centre Cancer Program, Stratford General Hospital, and Wellspring Stratford — all do critical work that most of us only think about when someone we know needs them.
A few things worth knowing if you’re seeing this for the first time:
Samm is running this in support of his wife, who is facing cancer for the third time. He’s not a professional athlete. He’s someone from this community who decided that when things are hard, you do something about it.
The GoFundMe is at gofundme.com/f/2mspu-charity-run — 100% of funds go directly to the three charities, no platform fees absorbed by the causes.
If you’re in the Stratford or GTA renovation community and want to cheer him on, May 11 is the start date. Follow along at sammsimon.ca for route details and updates.
The renovation industry doesn’t always get loud about the people behind the work. This is one worth making some noise for.
Jumping back in here because we’re now under three weeks out — May 11 is the date, and Samm is on track.
For anyone who missed the original post: Samm Simon is running 251 km to raise money for cancer care in Stratford and London. Every dollar goes directly to London Health Sciences Cancer Program, Stratford General ER, and Wellspring Stratford. No overhead cut, no corporate matching games — straight to the programs.
What strikes me about this run isn’t just the distance (though 251 km is not nothing). It’s the reason behind it. Cancer touches families in every community, and the gap between what the healthcare system covers and what patients actually need — transportation, home care, mental health support — is real and it’s wide. That’s what Wellspring fills in, and that’s what this run supports.
If you’ve been meaning to donate and haven’t yet, the GoFundMe is at gofundme.com/f/2mspu-charity-run. Even a small amount gets it over the line for families who need it.
We’ll keep sharing updates here as May 11 gets closer. Appreciate everyone in this community who has already shown support.
great work, Samm! keep up the amazing work
Thanks for the great work I have subscribed for you channel
