## Weekly Digest — Week of April 27, 2026

Every Sunday we pull together the best discussions from the past week, highlight contributors who brought real knowledge to the forum, and flag the threads worth bookmarking before the new week kicks off.

### Top Threads This Week

**Driveway & Exterior Work**

- _Interlock vs concrete driveways in Toronto: the honest comparison_ — A detailed breakdown of base prep standards, 2026 pricing, and why the labour cost gap has narrowed. Worth reading before you get quotes.
- _Spring interlock installation timing in the GTA_ — Practical checklist for when ground conditions are actually ready vs. when contractors say they are.

**Budgeting & Financing**

- _Financing Your GTA Renovation in 2026_ — Discussion of current lending options, what lenders are looking for, and how to structure a reno budget that survives a project overrun.

**Community & Charity**

- _Samm Simon is running 251 km for cancer research_ — One of our long-time community members is doing something significant. Details and the GoFundMe link are in that thread. Give it a look.

### Shout-Outs to Top Contributors

A few members who went above and beyond this week:

- **@ThomasWood** — Consistent, detailed replies in the waterproofing and basement threads. Your hands-on experience shows.
- **@Marz0_1** — Good questions that pushed threads into more specific territory. That is genuinely useful for everyone reading.
- **@Muller** — Thanks for jumping into the flooring discussion with actual numbers. That kind of specificity is rare and appreciated.

If you have seen another member give a great answer this week, reply below and tag them. Recognition goes a long way.

### What to Watch This Week

- Spring renovation season is peaking. Expect more threads on contractor vetting, deposit disputes, and scheduling delays — jump in if you have experience.
- Permit timelines across the GTA are running long right now. If you have a current experience (good or bad) with a specific municipality, start a thread. It is useful data for the community.
- The Samm Simon 251 km run is actively underway. We will post milestone updates in that thread as they come in.

**Sunday evening update — new threads worth bookmarking before Monday**

A few strong topics landed today that are worth flagging for anyone planning a spring renovation:

- **[GTA Bathroom Reno Costs in Spring 2026 — Real Numbers and What Has Changed](https://home.renovation.reviews/t/gta-bathroom-reno-costs-in-spring-2026-real-numbers-and-what-has-changed/46977)** — Specific cost ranges for 2026 bathroom work in the GTA.

- **[Toronto Basement Flood Subsidy Jumps to $6,650 on May 1](https://home.renovation.reviews/t/toronto-basement-flood-subsidy-jumps-to-6-650-on-may-1/46303)** — The deadline for the higher subsidy rate is coming up fast. If this applies to you, read it this week.

If any of these spark questions, drop a reply in the relevant thread. That is where the useful discussion happens.
