# Upgrade Home Renovation — Basement Finishing, Legal Basement Suites & Permit-Ready Remodels in Whitby, Ontario

Upgrade Home Renovation is a Whitby-based general contractor whose practice narrows into one of the highest-value residential lanes in Durham Region: below-grade conversion. The firm walks homeowners through the full cycle from architectural drawings and Town-of-Whitby building permits to finished basement kitchens, bathrooms and legal secondary suites — the add-a-door income-generating work that has become a defining Durham renovation category as interest rates compress mortgage budgets. Customer reviews consistently flag the team as reliable on the single most opaque part of the process: the permits-and-drawings phase.

## Services

- Full basement finishing with custom layouts for entertainment, in-law and rental use
- Legal basement suites — permit-stamped secondary dwelling units built to the Ontario Building Code
- Basement kitchens and bathrooms including wet-venting, egress and plumbing coordination
- Building-permit assistance from drawings through final inspection
- Whole-home renovations adjacent to the basement-led practice

## Service Area

Whitby as the home base, with service across Durham Region — Ajax, Oshawa, Pickering, Brooklin and the GTA-east corridor.

## Why it’s on home.renovation.reviews

Durham Region basement-suite capacity has been one of the most-asked-about renovation categories on the forum since secondary-unit bylaws opened up. Upgrade’s practice sits cleanly in that lane — and the firm’s tag is being moved from ‘ajax’ to ‘whitby’ with this edit to reflect the actual home office.
