**Before** The old kitchen was small and cut off from the rest of the house. Dark cabinets and poor lighting made cooking feel like a chore. The family often ate in separate rooms instead of together. **During** They knocked down a dividing wall to open the space, added an island with stools, and replaced the dated cabinets with bright, modern ones. New lighting over the counters made the whole room shine. The biggest challenge was rerouting the plumbing, which delayed the project a bit. **After** Now the kitchen is the heart of the home. The family cooks side by side, kids do homework at the island, and dinners happen together again. The space feels fresh, warm, and connected. **Lesson** A kitchen remodel isn’t only about looks, it can bring people back to the same table. ![image](https://renovation-reviews.storage.googleapis.com/original/2X/c/cb8629896c062f6fda7e7d8b903cdca00de74e42.jpeg) ---
