# Summerfield Construction — 4-Generation Custom Homes, Additions & Renovations in Essex, ON

Summerfield Construction is a four-generation family builder at 299 Gosfield Townline in Essex, run today by Neil Summerfield and his son Jake, and covering custom-home design and construction, additions, and whole-home renovations right through to large-scale multi-unit work. Neil trained as a carpenter under his father in Windsor-Essex homes; Jake holds a three-year Architectural Technology diploma from St. Clair College alongside an architecture degree from Lawrence Technological University — giving the firm an in-house designer-and-builder structure that is rare at the small-shop end of Essex County.

This is the **first four-generation family-business anchor on the Windsor-Essex bench** — a heritage-continuity profile comparable to [618 L. Patten & Sons](https://home.renovation.reviews/t/l-patten-sons-limited/618) (Collingwood, three generations since 1958) and [630 Rivard Bros](https://home.renovation.reviews/t/rivard-bros-building-contractor-new-liskeard-temiskaming/630) (Temiskaming, family-run GC since 1958). The firm’s scope runs from single-family renovations up through apartment buildings and retirement campuses.

## Service area

## Why it’s on home.renovation.reviews

Four generations in the same trade in the same region is a strong trust signal — the kind of profile that earns a place in a regional reno directory because the firm’s carpentry lineage anchors a local build style. Summerfield also crosses the residential-reno / large-multi-unit line, which matters for homeowners pursuing legal-suite conversions or custom multi-family builds. With Neil-plus-Jake running the firm, the carpenter-plus-architect pairing means design intent and field execution sit under the same roof.
