1. Clear the Room Remove all furniture, rugs, and curtains. Take off baseboards or trim if possible. 2. Check and Repair Hammer down any nails sticking out. Fill holes or cracks with wood filler. 3. Sand the Floor Start with coarse sandpaper to remove old finish. Repeat with medium, then fine grit for a smooth surface. Use an edge sander or hand sander for corners. 4. Clean Thoroughly Vacuum all dust. Wipe with a damp cloth to remove fine particles. 5. Stain (Optional) Apply wood stain evenly with a brush or rag if you want to change the color. Wipe off excess and let it dry. 6. Apply Finish Use a roller or brush to apply polyurethane (or another floor finish). Let it dry fully. Lightly sand between coats if needed. Apply 2–3 coats for durability. 7. Final Touches Let the floor cure completely before moving furniture back. Reinstall trim and baseboards.
