# Steele’s Home Hardware — Independent Home Hardware Dealer in Gore Bay, Manitoulin Island, ON (three-generation family business)

Steele’s Home Hardware at 44 Meredith Street, Gore Bay (P0P 1H0) is a local, family-run hardware and building-supply store that has passed through three generations of the Steele family — founded by Doug Steele, continued by his son Mike, and now led by Stephanie Steele. It is the Gore-Bay-area Home Hardware dealer, stocking contractor-grade and DIY materials on an island where a same-day materials run to the mainland is often a 90-minute ferry and a 4-hour drive.

## What they stock

- Benjamin Moore / Beauti-Tone paint, stain and sundries
- Windows, doors and millwork (special-order through Home Hardware)
- Lumber and building-supply core lines for smaller jobs and repair work
- Plumbing and electrical rough-in for owner-renovators
- Housewares, seasonal goods and hardware

## Service area

Gore Bay, Western Manitoulin Island (Barrie Island, Silver Water, Meldrum Bay, Kagawong, Evansville), plus contractors heading across the North Channel from the Espanola side.

## Why it’s on home.renovation.reviews (out-of-scope-preserved — materials-supplier archetype)

Steele’s Home Hardware does not itself perform renovations — it is an independent Home Hardware dealer, so it belongs to our out-of-scope-preserved “materials supplier” family alongside [Espanola Home Hardware Building Centre](https://home.renovation.reviews/t/espanola-home-hardware-building-centre/637), [Pat Noble Lumber (since 1949)](https://home.renovation.reviews/t/pat-noble-lumber-building-supplies-lumber-hardware-gore-bay-1949/666), and [10th Line Lumber](https://home.renovation.reviews/t/10th-line-lumber-co-family-owned-manitoulin-island-sawmill-in-gore-bay-on/1059). These listings exist so an owner-renovator or a visiting contractor can plan their materials logistics on Manitoulin Island from one directory page.
