# Sheppard Construction — Cottages, Boathouses & Custom Homes in Gravenhurst, Muskoka

Sheppard Construction has been operating from 111 Bay Street in Gravenhurst since January 1999 under builder Darcy Sheppard. The firm’s defining trait is concentration: Sheppard deliberately runs one project at a time and keeps in-house trades people on payroll rather than rotating subs — an unusual approach in the Muskoka custom-build market, and one that plays well on lakefront sites where sequencing and quality control are the hardest part of the job.

## Services

- Custom cottage construction and four-season lakefront homes
- Boathouse design and build — a specialty specific to Muskoka’s waterfront economy
- Custom home construction and major renovations
- Building restoration — heritage and classic-cottage retrofit
- Mason contracting and related stone/chimney work

## Service Area

- Gravenhurst (home base, 111 Bay Street)
- Bracebridge, Port Carling, Bala — central Muskoka and Muskoka Lakes Township
- Lake Muskoka, Lake Rosseau, Lake Joseph shoreline projects

## Why it’s on home.renovation.reviews

Boathouse construction is the editorial hook — it’s a legitimately narrow trade that requires marine-grade knowledge on top of conventional building, and Muskoka is one of the few Ontario markets where it’s a routine part of the custom scope. Sheppard’s in-house trades + single-project focus is the kind of structural commitment that matters when you’re asking a builder to coordinate a boathouse, main cottage, and a lakefront grade-change all on one site. The firm’s multi-generational carpentry lineage (Darcy worked alongside his father from childhood; now holds carpenter’s licence + architectural-engineering diploma) is the long-tenure signal.
