In Atlanta, Georgia, a kitchen remodel looked flawless at first glance. Cabinets aligned, countertops straight, tiles even. Two weeks later cracks appeared in the backsplash and a drawer started sticking.

The problem was not the materials but the prep work. The subfloor was uneven and the walls were slightly out of square. These issues were invisible at first but caused visible problems after installation.

Most construction fails are not dramatic. They start small and grow over time. Checking subfloors, walls, and moisture levels before starting any visible work prevents these issues.

The lesson is simple. Proper preparation matters more than finishes
