# Platinum Drywall Taping & Finishing — Expert Drywall & Ceiling Services in St. Thomas, ON Platinum Drywall Taping and Finishing is a St. Thomas-based drywall specialist with 20 years of experience in the construction trades. Owner Sam — known locally as “the Mud Doctor” — has spent a decade focused exclusively on professional drywall taping and finishing, bringing technical precision to a trade that is often treated as an afterthought on larger renovation sites. The business is accredited, licensed, bonded, and fully insured, with a 4.8-star average from more than two dozen verified reviews. ## Services - **Drywall Taping & Finishing** — Full drywall finishing from first coat through final coat: taping, mudding, sanding, and primer-ready finish for both new builds and renovations. - **Popcorn Ceiling Removal** — Removal of dated acoustic/popcorn ceiling texture, followed by smooth or re-textured finish to modern standards. - **Spray & Textured Ceilings** — Application of spray ceilings and specialty textures including Orange Peel finish — a popular upgrade in kitchen and living area renovations. ## Service Area St. Thomas, Elgin County, and surrounding communities in Southwestern Ontario. ## Why a Drywall Specialist Changes the Final Result Drywall finishing is a skilled trade with a steep learning curve that most general contractors never fully master. The difference between a Level 4 and Level 5 finish is invisible until the paint goes on — and then it’s very visible. Level 5 finish, where a final skim coat covers the entire surface, is the standard for high-sheen paints and any wall surface that receives raking light from a window. Getting it wrong means paint magnifying every taping ridge and sand scratch across the room. Hiring a dedicated specialist like Platinum Drywall rather than whoever a general contractor uses as a sub is a decision that shows in the finished room. Sam’s decade of exclusive focus on taping and finishing — not just drywall hanging or general carpentry — means his crews work faster and to a higher standard than tradespeople who do finishing as a secondary skill. For homeowners renovating kitchens or living areas in Elgin County, popcorn ceiling removal combined with an Orange Peel or smooth finish update is one of the highest-return visual upgrades available — and it’s a project Platinum Drywall handles start to finish without requiring a general contractor as intermediary. ## Why it’s on home.renovation.reviews Quality drywall work is the invisible foundation of any finished renovation — and finding a dedicated drywall specialist rather than a generalist contractor who “does taping too” makes a measurable difference in the final result. Platinum Drywall’s 4.8-star rating and trade-specific focus make it a standout resource for both renovation contractors and homeowners in this directory. ## More from home.renovation.reviews - See related: [S C Mills General Contractor — 5-Star Renovation Services in St. Thomas, ON](https://home.renovation.reviews/t/s-c-mills-general-contractor/1576) - See related: [Innovative Interior Consultants — Kitchen & Bathroom Specialists in St. Thomas, ON](https://home.renovation.reviews/t/innovative-interior-consultants-inc/1571) - Guide: [LF Builders Blog — Kitchen & Bathroom Renovation Guides for Ontario Homeowners](https://blog.lfbuilders.ca) - Main site: [LF Builders — Kitchen & Bathroom Renovations in the Greater Toronto Area](https://lfbuilders.ca) * * * ---
