Everyone says painting cabinets is cheap and worth it. They don’t always mention the patience required.

I labeled every door, pulled each hinge, cleaned everything twice, and sanded until my arms begged for mercy. Primer took longer than expected, and I nearly rushed the drying time. I’m glad I didn’t.

The magic happened during the second coat of paint. Suddenly the kitchen felt lighter, calmer, more modern without replacing a single cabinet box.

It wasn’t quick. Dinner came from takeout more than once. But compared to the cost of replacing cabinetry, the savings felt huge.

And now? Every time sunlight hits those smooth doors, I remember the hours and I’m strangely proud of them.

Conclusion:

Some DIY projects take time, but patience can turn ordinary materials into something that feels brand-new.
