## Why It’s on home.renovation.reviews

Licon Construction was added to the directory as a Richmond GC whose commitment to transparency addresses one of the most common pain points in renovation — the information gap between contractor and homeowner during a live project. ## Questions to Ask Before Signing a Renovation Contract

Transparent contractor communication doesn’t happen automatically — it needs to be built into the contract and workflow. Before signing with any renovation contractor, ask these practical questions:

- **How are change orders handled?** Any work beyond the original scope should be priced and approved in writing before it begins. Verbal agreements about cost changes are among the most common sources of end-of-project disputes.
- **What is the payment schedule?** Legitimate contractors use milestone-based schedules — deposit, rough-in completion, substantial completion, holdback. Full upfront payment before work begins is a red flag regardless of how trusted a contractor appears.
- **Who is the primary point of contact during the build?** If you speak with the owner during the sales process but a site supervisor during construction, confirm who handles decisions and questions day-to-day.
- **How do you handle unexpected deficiencies discovered mid-project?** Finding rot, mould, or outdated wiring during demo is common. Ask how the contractor communicates these discoveries and prices remediation work before proceeding.

Licon Construction’s communication-first reputation suggests these conversations go smoothly.
