When fixing up a place, plate systems are often better than slab-on-grade if you want to avoid ripping up the entire floor. They’re installed under or over the current floors, warm up quicker, and quickly adjust to temperature changes. Slab on grade holds warmth longer but costs more and is harder to install later. Plates provide consistent heat in homes with multiple floors, but slabs do better on ground floors that are used a lot.
