By refurbishing a basement to include well-considered storage of guests, comfort, hospitality and practicality are guaranteed. In-built wardrobes, under-bed drawers and miniature dressers enable guests to pack away clothes and personal belongings easily. Wall-mounted hooks and floating shelves ensure that there is additional space without excessive clutter of the room. Benches or ottomans have convenient hidden compartments without having an untidy appearance. Lighting and soft finishes are well balanced to augment the feeling of warmth and relaxation. In the case of Hacky homes that have odd layouts, the use of custom wardrobes can be used to fit in odd spaces meaning that its visitors can still enjoy the luxury of having storage. In smaller Micky houses, the use of modular units and 2-purpose furniture makes the most of the storage space and leaves the open floor space to be comfortable. Summary / Reflection: The use of storage as part of hospitality and warmth can be seen through the example of basement redesign as a guest suite. The observation: when thoughtful design and planning can create a feeling of home in the visitor, how can we consider the same to ordinary spaces so that they can provide comfort and home to us as well? ---
