One add to the cost stack for anyone weighing a heat pump conversion as part of this spring tune-up: the Save on Energy HRS rebate timing matters as much as the dollar amount. Pre-approval for the audit and heat pump path is running 6-9 weeks before install right now, so for a comfortable July 1 cutover you really want your audit booked before mid-May. Pair that with the federal Greener Homes interest-free residual loan and the math gets very different from a straight gas-furnace replacement.

If anyone is mid-quote on a hybrid or all-electric setup and wants a sanity check on the install timeline, drop the equipment list and I will flag where the hidden timeline traps usually live.
