Compact Laundry Units for Small Renovations

Space is often a challenge in renovations, especially in apartments and small homes. A new range of compact laundry units has just been launched to address this need.

These all-in-one units combine washing and drying functions in a single machine. Designed to fit under counters or into closets, they free up space while maintaining full functionality. Some models also feature smart technology, allowing users to start or monitor cycles remotely.

Energy and water efficiency are key highlights, reducing both utility bills and environmental impact. Homeowners can choose from different capacities, ensuring the units meet household needs without taking up unnecessary room.

Contractors praise the units for their ease of installation and adaptability. They are especially useful in urban renovations where every inch of space matters. Families and professionals alike benefit from the convenience of having laundry facilities without sacrificing storage or living space.

Conclusion: Compact laundry units are a practical addition to small-scale renovations. Their launch gives homeowners efficient solutions that save space without compromising performance.

The units this post describes have come down to roughly $1,200 at the entry level. Home Depot Canada currently lists a GE 24-inch 2.4 cu. ft. washer and condenser dryer combo at $1,198, a Danby 2.7 cu. ft. ventless at $1,349, and the full-size heat pump combos (LG 5.7 cu. ft. at $2,498, GE Profile 5.5 cu. ft. at $2,598, Samsung Bespoke 6.1 cu. ft. from $2,398) for anyone who wants one machine but a normal load size. Home Depot’s page makes the point that matters for a small reno: these do not need an exterior vent, so they can go in a closet or under a counter where a vented dryer could never pass.

The trade-off is time. Coast Appliances’ ventless dryer guide says a ventless unit typically takes longer to dry a load than a vented model, because it is built for efficiency and gentle fabric care rather than speed. For a household doing several loads a day that is the real cost, not the sticker price.

Before you buy for a GTA condo or basement, check three things.

- Whether the model wants a standard 120 V outlet or a 240 V receptacle, since a new dedicated circuit is work for an ESA-licensed electrical contractor.
- Where the machine drains, because a closet install still needs a proper drain and supply.
- The condo’s rules on in-suite laundry, which some buildings still restrict.

Is anyone here running a heat pump combo day to day, and how long is a normal wash-and-dry cycle taking?
