If you had a tight renovation budget and could only improve three things in a house, what would you choose first?

For me it would probably be:

• Flooring

• Fresh paint

• Kitchen storage/cabinets

I say flooring because old floors affect the entire look of a room immediately. Paint is one of the cheapest ways to modernize a home, especially with better color combinations. Kitchen storage is also important because clutter can make even expensive kitchens feel smaller and less functional.

A lot of people focus only on decoration, but I think functionality matters just as much as appearance during renovation.

Sometimes small upgrades create a bigger impact than expensive full remodels.

What would your top 3 upgrades be?

Small upgrades make a huge difference when you’re on a budget. Things like fresh paint, better lighting, new handles, or just reorganizing a space can completely change how a room feels without spending much.

Flooring changes the entire look instantly. Paint is one of the easiest ways to modernize a space. And good kitchen storage makes everything feel more organized and functional.

My own top 3 would probably be lighting, flooring, and kitchen storage too. Good lighting makes spaces feel warmer and more modern, while proper storage keeps the home looking clean and comfortable. I also like your point about functionality because a beautiful house still becomes frustrating if it is not practical for everyday living.

Mine would probably be:

• Lighting

• Flooring

• Bathroom upgrades

Lighting changes the mood of an entire home instantly and affects comfort every day. Flooring has a huge visual impact, especially across multiple rooms. And even small bathroom improvements—better fixtures, storage, or ventilation—can make the space feel much newer and more functional without a full remodel.

Flooring can completely transform a space at first glance. Fresh paint quickly updates the look of a room, while well planned kitchen storage improves both organisation and everyday functionality.
